MIT Facilities’ Repair and Maintenance (R&M) seeks an individual to provide leadership and supervision to its fire protection team. Will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and testing of the fire protection and life safety systems across campus; plan and schedule preventive maintenance and the daily work assignments of team members; maintain appropriate documentation in order to satisfy regulatory and insurance requirements; provide QA/QC to ensure the highest quality of work; coordinate and provide training for changes and additions to National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), state, and local codes; coordinate and support fire protection shutdowns; participate in the design review process for new projects and assist in the commissioning of all new installations; act as liaison to the Cambridge Fire Department; and assist with campus emergency responses as needed.

Requirements: an associate’s degree in fire science; a minimum of five years’ experience in a supervisory role; five-plus years’ experience installing and maintaining fire protection and life safety systems; excellent organizational, interpersonal, and written and oral communication skills; strong computer skills and experience working with word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications; and a valid driver’s license. A Massachusetts’ electrical license is preferred.
